Forex reserves down $525 mn

India's foreign exchange reserves declined by $525 million to reach $1,19,407 million mark for the week ended June 25.

The country's foreign currency assets were down by $530 million to $1,14,129 million during the period under review, according to Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement released on Saturday.

Analysts said the revaluation of international currencies and strong demand for dollar influenced the level of reserves.

RBI said gold reserves and special drawing rights remained static at $3,974 million and $2 million, respectively.

India's Reserve Tranche Position with the International Monetary Fund rose by $5 million to $1,302 million, the central bank said.

Loans and advances to central government shot upto Rs 3,222 crore (Rs 32.22 billion) from nil balance a week before while that to the state governments were down by Rs 341 crore (Rs 3.41 billion) to Rs 3,915 crore (Rs 39.15 billion), it added.
