Shanghai Pudong Software Park of China has started negotiations with three Indian companies -- CMC, Newgen and Nucleus Software -- to have their presence in the park.

Seven indian companies -- Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Satyam, NIIT, Mphasis and QAI -- are already present in the park and have invested about $15 million, Hu Hongliang, GM, Shanghai Pudong Software Park, said.

"We welcome more Indian companies to join our park, form partnerships with local companies and explore China's growing software market," he said.

In 2003, the software park's total turnover reached $484 million with a workforce of more than 7000, he added.

The park currently has 300 tenant companies like Bearing Point, Citigroup Software Development Centre, Sony (China) Software Centre, Kyocera, among others.

He said the park would start the third phase of expansion to be completed by 2007.

China's software industry is growing at 30 per cent. The business reached $13.32 billion in 2002 and exports stood at $1.5 billion. In 2003, Shanghai Park's software business generated a total turnover of $2.42 billion and it exported $265 million worth of software.
