Jet Airways launches e-ticketing

April 27, 2004 15:11 IST

Jet Airways on Tuesday launched its online booking facility with e-ticketing enabling passengers to book tickets to any of its destinations in India on the Internet.

Passengers anywhere in the world can now book, pay and print their Jet Airways e-tickets online from any point globally, Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, chief executive officer, Jet Airways, told newspersons at the launch of e-ticketing in Mumbai.

The e-ticketing service, a global practice, would be available for over 255 daily flights operated by the airline, except from and to Srinagar, Khajuraho, Kochi and Colombo, he said.

The airline general manager (marketing) Gaurang Shetty said all online reservations (that can be made at www.jetairways.com) are required to be made at least two hours prior to the departure of the flight.

He said for cancellation of a ticket, one has to call the airline as it has not been incorporated into the system.

Prock-Shauer said this system would in no way isolate travel agents in any manner. "We expect about 1 per cent of the daily 20,000 passengers that we carry to avail this service, which could gradually go up by 4-5 per cent," he added.

The CEO said the airline had a load factor of 64 per cent (up by 2 per cent) last fiscal and carried 7 million passengers, a growth of 8 per cent compared to the last year.
