Bajaj Auto Ltd has clocked a 3.1 per cent growth in two wheeler sales for the fiscal ended March 31 at 12,88,259 units compared to 12,49,104 units in 2002-03.

It recorded a 5.2 per cent growth in sales of two and three wheelers for FY04 at 15,17,413 units (14,42,963 units in FY03), BAL said in a release on Thursday.

Exports recorded a 65.5 per cent jump at 1,56,008 units in 2003-04 (94,241 units). The value of exports in FY04 stood at Rs 550 crore (Rs 5.50 billion), it added.

The company's total motorcycle sales grew by 17.9 per cent to 10,23,650 (8,68,138 units).

The company said in the motorcycle premium segment, 2,82,173 Pulsar's were sold, showing a growth of 53.6 per cent. Now, 54 per cent of BAL's motorcycle portfolio comprises of products in the premium and executive segment (38 per cent in FY03), it said.

Three wheelers showed an 18.2 per cent growth at 2,29,154 units during April 2003-March 2004 (1,93,856 units in FY03).

In March 2004, the two wheeler sales grew by 26.2 per cent at 1,18,662 units (94,067 units in March 2003), the release said.

Motorcycle sales showed a 27.4 per cent growth at 94,322 units (74,039 in March 2003).

Total two and three wheelers sales were up by 26 per cent at 1,38,801 units in March (1,10,224 units in March 2003), it added.

Exports zoomed by 89 per cent in March 2004 at 13,625 units (7,209 units), BAL added.
