Madhya Pradesh will go ahead with the implementation of value added tax system from June 1, according to Commercial Tax Minister Narendra Nahata.
Reiterating the state government's commitment to implement VAT from June 1, Nahata said it is introducing the new system keeping in view the larger interest of the traders and business persons and its revenue collection targets as well, an official release said in Bhopal on Tuesday.
Nahata said, "I am sure that the state will go with VAT implementation from June one, 2003 under all circumstances. No one should have any doubt about its implementation".
The two adjoining states -- Maharashtra and Gujarat -- are also introducing VAT, both the states are the progressive states and hence Madhya Pradesh will follow them in respect of VAT implementation, he said.
The minister assured the traders' representatives that the state government is fully alert and cautious about the possible difficulties arising out of VAT implementation, the release added.
