CII to launch Web site on Sino-Indian ties
June 18, 2003 17:11 IST
The Confederation of Indian Industry will launch a Web site on India-China economic cooperation next week, coinciding with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's visit to that country.
The Web site would provide information on Chinese regulations, whose lack of availability is acting as a deterrent for Indian companies to set up shop there.
The chamber would also highlight and address key issues that need to be addressed between Chinese and Indian businesses. The current level of trade and economic cooperation is not commensurate with the potential.
Bilateral trade figures stand at $5 billion a year and has the potential to reach $10 billion within three years, CII said on Wednesday.
Easing of visa procedures also figures on the list of issues that have been drawn up by the CII.
Among the other general issues, lack of adequate Indian media representation in China has been quoted as a dampener when it comes to strengthening India-China ties. CII believes that increased media representation is one of the pre-requisites for developing and sustaining ties.
