Many companies, including Reliance Industries Ltd, have postponed their board meetings, scheduled for Wednesday, in view of the bandh called by Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party to protest on Monday's blast in Mumbai, even as the Stock Exchange, Mumbai and the National Stock Exchange said their operations will be normal.
RIL informed the Stock Exchange, Mumbai that the board meeting to consider the first quarter results has been rescheduled and would now be held on Thursday.
The Mumbai and National Stock Exchanges said their operations will be normal but brokers expressed apprehension whether they will be able to reach their offices in South Mumbai and conduct market transactions.
Asian Electronics also announced that its board would now meet on August 2 instead of Wednesday.
The promoters of the Viramgam-Mahesana gauge project D S Constructions Ltd, which launched a special purpose vehicle for the project in Gujarat, also postponed their meet for Thursday.
They were to announce on Wednesday the financial closure and signing of the tri-party agreement of the first BOT project in the railway sector.
