Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd on Thursday announced a Rs 15 lakh (Rs 1.5 million) insurance scheme for its domestic cooking gas users to cover for loss of life and injuries due to an accident with an LPG cylinder.
"HP Gas has come out with an enhanced umbrella insurance policy covering all consumers and third parties. This includes compensation of Rs 100,000 in case of demise, Rs 25,000 towards loss of property and Rs 15 lakh towards individual medical expenses in case of injuries due to an accident with an LPG cylinder," G A Shirwaikar, general manager, HPCL, told reporters in New Delhi.
Announcing a slew of initiatives to promote HP Gas, he said the company has launched a loyalty programme where household goods are sold to its customers at attractive discounts ranging from 40 to 50 per cent.
HPCL has also introduced community kitchens, Rasoi Ghar, for the underprivileged people. The company charges Rs 6 per hour for the use of HP Gas for cooking at the 350 Rasoi Ghars across the country, he said.
It has also launched a weight campaign where 15,000 HP Gas delivery boys across the country will carry portable weighing scales, which gives the customer the option to cross check the weight of the gas at their doorstep.
"The new initiatives are part of the Ji Haan consumer campaign that was launched a year ago across the six metros, and extended to 690 markets covering 17 states, which improved the HP Gas brand recall from the 17th position to the 4th position and gained a strong association with reliability and quick service," he said.
