The Confederation of Indian Industry has entered into an agreement with the Chinese city of Sheynag to promote long-term cooperation in the area of information technology.

The agreement was signed by Piysuh Bahl, senior director, CII and Sui Li, director, Shenyang Information Industry Bureau, a CII release said in New Delhi on Monday.

The agreement marks the first effort towards the long-term cooperation that the CII has entered with the Chinese city after opening a representative office in the country.

Under the terms of the deal, the two would focus on strengthening the IT sector by adding new dimensions through mutual cooperation, technology transfer and professional training.

The partnership would also help identify partners and focus on niche areas, besides helping each side develop and hone their core competencies by making suitable investments in training and research and development.

Bilateral visits from both countries to promote trade and commerce would also be facilitated. The trade delegation would be encouraged to visit the key IT companies, the release said.

Besides, seminars, workshops and conferences would be organised to address and train participants.

The two way trade between the neighbours soared 104 per cent during the first five months ending May to touch $469 million, it added.
