What: National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) invites applications for:
~ Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE) for 2008 - 2010
This two-year programme develops Industrial Engineers as Technology Management experts for both manufacturing and service sectors. The programme covers subjects such as Supply Chain Management, Six Sigma, Operations Management, Project Management, Logistics, BPR, ERP and Software Engineering.
Eligibility and selection: GATE qualified 1st class engineering / technology graduates in any branch. GATE qualifiers get Teaching Assistantship. Admission is based on group discussion and interview with appropriate weightage given to GATE score.
Selection of industry-sponsored candidates with first class degree in engineering/ technology (with a minimum of 2 years industry experience) is through personal interview only. GATE score is not required for sponsored candidates.
SC/ST candidates are granted financial assistance as per the scheme of Govt, of India vide letters No.11016/19/2005-SCD-I dated 21.6.2007 & No.19012/36/05-Education dated 27.6.2007 subject to the satisfactory fulfilment of terms and conditions mentioned therein.
~ Fellow (Doctoral) Programme (FP)
Areas: Organisational behaviour, marketing, finance and accounting, operations management, economics, operations research, IT, ergonomics, safety and environmental management.
The programme aims to admit, in the above areas of specialisation, the individuals with sound academic background, strong motivation and potential to become excellent researchers at national and international level.
Applicants are evaluated on their past academic achivements, motivation and preparation for the program, seminar presentation on the area of his/her research interest and personal interview.
Eligibility and selection: Master's Degree or equivalent in engineering/ technology, management, economics, social sciences, biological science and pure science with First Class will be considered for admission to Fellow (Doctoral) programme.
Those appearing for their final examination in the respective disciplines can also apply.
Selection is based on the presentation on the tentative research proposal followed by Personal Interview.
Industry sponsored candidates with above eligibility and a minimum of two years experience at executive level can also apply under external category. They will have to stay in the campus for a year to undergo full-time course work.
Financial support and fees: Financial assistance is provided to all candidates for four years except for external category.
Reservation and 5 per cent relaxation on 18t Class % marks are applicable to SC/ST/PD candidates as per Govt, of India rules for both the programmes.
For both the programmes reservation of OBC candidates will be as per Government or India rules. Fulfilment of minimum qualifications is not an automatic claim for Group Discussion, Interview etc.

By sending four self addressed stickers and a DD for Rs 1,000 (Rs 500 in case of SC/ ST/ PD candidates with attested certificates of Caste / Disability), drawn in favour of "NITIE Mumbai" payable at Mumbai.
