What: India's first common entrance test for admission to seven of the country's national law schools for the year 2008-09 -- the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) -- will be held on May 11, 2008.

Law schools included:

• NALSAR, Hyderabad
• NLIU, Bhopal
• NUJS, Kolkata
• NLU, Jodhpur
• HNLU, Raipur
• GNLU, Gandhinagar

Test details
This two-hour long test will have objective questions covering the following subjects:
~ English
~ General knowledge
~ Basic mathematics
~ Logical reasoning
~ Legal affairs

Important dates
Start date for sales of application forms: Jan 31
Last date for receipt of application forms: Apr 10
Test date: May 11

For under-graduate programmes
Eligibility: 10+2 Examination or equivalent with not less than 50% marks (students taking qualifying examination in March / April 2008 are also eligible to apply)

Age limit: 20 Years as on 1st July, 2008

Pattern: The test paper will consist of 5 Sections with objective type questions only

For post-graduate programme (Except for NLU, Jodhpur)

Application procedure
Off-line
i) Printed application forms along with the brochure will be available at the designated branches of the Corporation Bank [Get Quote] and State Bank of India [Get Quote] against the payment of Rs 2,000 only (inclusive of test fee and bank charges).

ii) Request for applications may be sent to the Convener, CLAT, National Law School of India University, Bangalore -560 242, with a demand draft for Rs 2,000 drawn in favour of the Convener, CLAT, and payable at Bangalore.

iii) Applications can also be downloaded from www.clat.ac.in. The downloaded application along with the DD and other enclosures should be sent to the Convener, CLAT at the address mentioned above.

Online
For online submission of applications, visit www.clat.ac.in. The completed and printed Online CLAT 2008 application form along with DD for Rs 2,000 drawn in favour of Convener, CLAT and payable at Bangalore along with other enclosures should be sent to the Convener, CLAT at the above address. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
