You could opt for a degree in fashion design if you have an artistic bent of mind or hotel management if hospitality is what you enjoy.

Though most of you have some idea of the options available to you, there are a lot of careers out there that you may not be aware of. In a chat with readers Chandra Bali, a career guidance counsellor with Young Buzz, addressed queries about how to go about choosing a career, what a career in a particular field would entail and a number of other issues.

akb asked, Hello, I have done a 1-yr PG diploma in PR and then I worked as PRO for 1 yr. Now I am doing a 2-yr PG diploma in PR. What is scope of PR in future?

Ririka asked, I wish to know other options in the field of science other than engineering and medical.

aditya asked, Hi chandra, I have taken the CET this time and it went well. But can you tell me different option to go about in engineering and what is preferable in the future.

Chandra Bali answers, There are several specialisations in engineering. It depends on your score in the CET as well as your interest. After BE/BTech you have to decide on either a masters degree or management. Engineering options include biotechnology, chemical, mechanical, civil, computers, automobile, aeronautical and many others.

brucil asked, Hi, I hold a B.Tech in Engineering. I also have 4 yrs of FMCG experience. I would like to know whether a career SAP would be good?

Chandra Bali answers, Yes, SAP is a good option and has a lot of scope in India.

Banwari asked, I have done my B.Comm and want to get into in BPO company, Bangalore. Which post can I get there and will they give any training.

Chandra Bali answers, You have to start off as an agent and they will give you training. If you are inclined towards training you can get into voice and accent or domain training.

Surya9 asked, I have done office management from YMCA and also have a diploma in Naturopathy along with B.A Pass Degree from Delhi University. I have 1.5 years experience as a tele-executive in ICICI Bank [Get Quote]. What kind of career should I opt for? What is the prospect of doing an MBA and in which field?

Chandra Bali answers, The scope of management is immense in India right now. You can opt for human resources, marketing, event or retail depending on your interests and aptitude.

geetha asked, Hi, I am Biology, Physics, Chemistry student in Intermediate (i.e. 12th). I am not sure of what to do. I have options like Physiotherapy and B.Sc. Biotech/genetics etc. I have scored 83 per cent.

Chandra Bali answers, You can go for B.Sc Biotech or any of the biosciences. It is a more research-oriented field than physiotherapy. You can also do your management after graduation.

Leena asked, Hi Chandra, I wanted to know if I can study Law after I graduate. What would be my possible options?

Chandra Bali answers, Yes. You can do your LLB after graduation, which is for 3 years. You can specialise in criminal law, civil, corporate, international, intellectual property right, real estate.

pol asked, I have done a diploma in administrative management after the 12^th and finished my B.Comm. Kindly advise me on what I should do next?

Chandra Bali answers, You can go in for either a masters degree or management after graduation.

aditya asked, I am expecting a good score of 184 out of 200 but I am confused between computer and electronics engineering as I like both of them.

Chandra Bali answers, A career as a computer engineer would involve more programming and hardware networking whereas electronics would involve the making and testing of gadgets etc. Both the fields have equal scope but your success will depend on your interest and aptitude.

Biswa asked, Hi Chandra, I am a BA Economics graduate and would like to opt for any of the following courses: Company Secretary, HR and MBA in Finance. Could you please give your valuable suggestion regarding the future and job market for all these fields and please guide me what option should I take.

Chandra Bali answers, Management has a lot of scope. Whether you want to go for HR or Finance should depend on your interest as well as your aptitude. There is scope as a CS as well, but there will be better opportunities if you go for management.
