What: Stanford-India Biodesign (SIB) International Fellowships

For: Training the next generation of medical technology innovators in India. The fellowship will last for two years, commencing from January 2008.

Approximately half of the fellows' time will be spent in New Delhi and the other half at Stanford University. Fellows will receive tuition, stipend support, and international travel arrangements. Stipend will be sufficient to cover all reasonable living expenses for the duration of the fellowship.

Fellows are expected to remain in India at the completion of the programme. The Stanford India Biodesign Fellowship Programme is funded jointly by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, and Stanford University. The Stanford-India Biodesign Fellowship Programme will be administered as collaboration between Stanford University, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS).

Who can apply?

Indian citizens who have significant work experience and/or possess graduate degrees in engineering, medicine or business can apply for this scholarship. Advanced degrees are highly advantageous and may include MD, MS, MSc, MTech, Master's in Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). They will be judged on the basis of their potential to become leaders in biomedical technology innovation. University faculty members are also encouraged to apply for this scholarship programme.
