Continuing with our series of FAQs on studying in America, we asked a selection of students, already in the US, to share the wisdom of their experiences with us. This is what some of them wrote back to say.

Our topic: What about Indian food? Will it be easily available?

Reply 1 from Pragnyadipta Sen, PhD student, University of Illinois

In almost every school with International students, you will have an international food store that stores food from around the world. Yes, Indian food is pretty easily available but you might have to look for it in the beginning.

Reply 2 from Shikha, BA in Biology, Bryn Mawr College (in the US since one year)

Indian food is easily available, although it may strain your pocket to eat out everyday.

Reply 3 from Vinay S, MS Mechanical Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park (in the US ince four years)

Most places in the US have good Indian restaurants and grocers close to the universities. So, unless you are going to an out of the way university, you should find good desi food and/ or groceries.

Reply 4 from Tushar Rakesh, Masters in Computer Engineering, San Jose State University (in the US sincle last year)

It depends upon the area you are living in. If you are in a place with a rich Indian population, then you'll get Indian food easily. However, it will rarely be difficult for you to find Indian food.

Reply 5 from Ashish Yaduka

Indian food is very easily available no matter where you are. If you want to eat out daily then, you may need to worry about transportation. But if you can live on frozen or can cook yourself, there is nothing that you will miss.
