I had my PAN issued six years ago. But the envelope, which had the letter quoting the number, did not have the PAN card itself enclosed.
When I enquired about the same at the IT office, I was asked to wait for a couple of months.
When I still did not receive the card, I sent a letter to the IT office asking them to re-issue PAN card.
Nothing happened.
Since I had the letter issued by the IT department which stated my PAN number, I have been using this to file my returns.
Now what must I do?

As you already have a PAN (the number at least), all you need to do is fill in a form known as: 'Request For New PAN Card or/ and Changes In PAN Data'.
Submit it to any UTISL or NSDL centre.
Visit the official Web sites of UTI Investor Services Ltd or National Securities Depository Limited to locate the centres. For a detailed question and answer briefing on PAN, visit the FAQ page on the Income Tax website
You would receive a new PAN card with the existing number generally within 30 days of your application.
Note: Questions may be edited for brevity. Due to the tremendous response, all queries will not be answered.
