Once upon a time, on a television set far far away...

Yeah, Star Wars is coming to television. And we're not talking reruns on movie channels.

George Lucas has, according to the Los Angeles Times, started work on a television series set in the Star Wars universe.

However, while this series will be well rooted in the intergalactic Star Wars mythos, it won't feature the Skywalkers, Darth Vader or any of the characters featuring prominently in the mega movie franchise.

Lucas has been characteristically secretive about the show -- 'about the life of robots' is all he has let slip -- even as another show, the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars prepares to hit television screens.
