'We have no objection'

Akshay Kumar, Shabana Azmi, Deepa Mehta, Nandita Das Director Deepa Mehta is arriving in Calcutta on Friday to hold talks with the West Bengal government for shooting her controversial film, Water in the state.

"Ms Mehta and Ms Shabana Azmi contacted us Tuesday night. Ms Mehta is coming on Friday to talk to us. We have welcomed them," Deputy Chief Minister and Cultural Affairs Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said yesterday.

"It is upto them to choose the shooting spot. We have no objection," he said.

Asked whether he expects trouble during shooting of the film in the Leftist-ruled state, Bhattacharjee said the peace loving people of West Bengal would not tolerate any obstruction. "The trouble makers would be effectively dealt with," he added.
