Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Monday indicated his party could support a Congress government from outside if the latter insisted on retaining chief ministership.

"We have said that the 1999 principle [of the largest party getting the chief minister's post] should be accepted and there should be no going back on it. But if they [the Congress] still insist on it [chief ministership] we are not angry. Let them form the government, decide the chief minister. We will give them support from outside for full five years," he told reporters in New Delhi.

He said his party is not hungry for power and will concentrate on building its strength in all parts of the state.

"We have enough youngsters in the party and we can wait for five years," Pawar said.
