Explaining the unusual step, the governor told Aaj Tak that the idea is make sure that the state gets a stable government. The election results will be out on October 16.
A stunned political establishment till Thursday night was denying receiving any letter from the governor's office.
With almost all political parties busy wooing independents, the governor's letter is a bother they could have done well without.
This is the first time in the state's history that a governor has sought details of pre-poll alliances even before the results are out.
