Vaiko not to contest Lok Sabha polls

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secertary Vaiko on Thursday night said he would not contest the Lok Sabha election.
He announced at a public meeting in Chennai that deputy secretary of MDMK farmers' wing, V Ravichandran, would be the party's nominee from the Sivakasi Lok Sabha seat, which was represented by Vaiko in the dissolved house.
Vaiko said L Ganesan, party presidium chairman, would contest the Tiruchirappalli seat while former Union minister Gingee N Ramachandran would be the party's nominee for Vandavasi seat.
Dr C Krishnan is the party's nominee for Pollachi seat, he said.
Gingee N Ramachandran and Krishnan were the members of the dissolved Lok Sabha.
