Police have registered two cases against Union Civil Aviation Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Chapra, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, and his bodyguards charging them with booth- grabbing, stealing and intimidating voters on April 26, when the second phase of the general election was held.

Officer-in-Charge of Amnaur police station, Ravi Ranjan Pandey, said the cases were registered on the complaints of presiding officer Ragho Prasad of Taraiya's booth 168, and a Rashtriya Janata Dal activist, Rajiv Singh.

According to Pandey, Singh said the minister used abusive language and intimidated the voters

Singh said Rudy's bodyguard also stole Rs 3,000 from him and the minister was a witness to that.

In the second case, Rudy was alleged to have conspired with his bodyguards, including one Ojha, who had allegedly indulged in booth capturing and firing, Pandey said.

Interestingly, Superintendent of Police (Saran) Ganesh Kumar was not aware of the cases. "I am ninety-five per cent sure that no case had been registered against the Union minister till yesterday," Kumar said.

Rudy has accused the RJD of creating trouble on April 26 and called for a re-poll in Chapra.

RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav was pitted against him in the constituency.
