Ex-BJP minister's remand extended

Former Maharashtra Minister of State Udyanraje Bhosale was today further remanded to 15 days' magisterial custody till October 7, for his alleged involvement in the murder of an Nationalist Congress Party activist.

Bhosale, a direct descendent of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji, was arrested on September 11.

The prosecution lawyer told the court that the investigations into the case were yet to be completed and the police needed Bhosale's continued custody to take his statement.

Defence council D V Patil argued that Bhosale was not present at the site where the murder took place and added that he was at a hotel and the evidence in this regards has already been produced before the court.

However, the court ruled in prosecution's favour and remanded Bhosale to 15 days' magisterial custody.
