Politicians's relatives find nominations easier to come by in Bihar

Relatives of senior political leaders in Bihar continue to bag nominations in this general election too.

While Bihar's ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal has fielded Naina Rana, wife of the RJD legislator R K Rana from Khagaria, the Bihar People's Party has nominated former Lok Sabha member Anand Mohan and his wife Lovely Anand (MLA) from Sheohar and Vaishali respectively. The BPP has been allotted two seats from the Janata Dal-United's quota under an electoral alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Younger brother of senior JD-U leader and former railway minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Ramchandra Paswan, has also been chosen to fight the elections from Rosera (SC).

The BJP also has not been slow to pick kith and kin, choosing to field cricketer Kirti Azad, the son of former chief minister Bhagwat Jha Azad, from Darbhanga and Abha Mahato (the sitting MP), who is seeking re-election from Jamshedpur in south Bihar. She is the wife of party leader Shailendra Mahato, who was earlier with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Soren.

JMM-S chief Shibu Soren has fielded his spouse Rupi Soren in Dumka< in the Jharkhand region. She is pitted against Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Babulal Marandi of the BJP.

Congress candidate for Aurangabad Shyama Singh is the daughter-in-law of former chief minister Satyendra Narayan Singh and daughter of former MP Madhuri Singh.

The CPI has nominated Ramendra Kumar, son of senior leader Yogendra Sharma, from Hazaribagh, where he is contesting against Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha.

Nagendra Rai, nephew of former chief minister and RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav, is, however, contesting as an Independent from Patna after he was denied a party ticket.
