Samata Party demands Kalyan's removalGeneral Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Samata Party Hari Narain Mishra today demanded the removal of Chief Minister Kalyan Singh and the election of a new leader in his place. Talking to newsmen in Allahabad, Mishra said, if the Bharatiya Janata Party could not elect a new leader, the state should be put under President's rule. Criticising the jumbo-size cabinet of Kalyan Singh, Mishra said the state was ''not in a position financially'' to bear the heavy expenditure involved because of this. Mishra said, if the state BJP leadership was not changed soon, it would be difficult for the BJP alliance to win even sixty seats in the state election. He disclosed that the state convention of the party would be held at Lucknow on October 29. Defence Minister George Fernandes, Surface Transport Minister Nitish Kumar, Civil Aviation and Communication Ministers Sharad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan respectively would participate in the convention, he added.
