Kalyan urges high command for early decision on UP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today upped the ante in the continuing infighting in the state by urging the Bharatiya Janata Party high command to decide the issue of change in leadership in the state at the earliest.

Talking to newspersons in Lucknow, he said an early decision in this regard was necessary in order to end the political uncertainty and undue speculation in the state.

The chief minister reiterated that he was willing to accept any decision of the central leadership. He, however, made it clear that he would not like to join the Union cabinet or to accept any party post.

''Uttar Pradesh is one of the four biggest states of the world and I would prefer to be here as an ordinary party worker,'' Singh said.

In reply to a question, the chief minister said, ''I categorically rule out the possibility of dissolution of the UP assembly and subsequent mid term polls in the state.''
