Pawar holds meet to review situation

Former defence minister and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar met his partymen today and discussed the issue of formation of the next government in Maharashtra.

The meeting was held at Pawar's south Bombay residence.

Senior leaders including former chief minister Sudhakarrao Naik, state NCP president and leader of the opposition in the state legislative council Chhagan Bhujbal, former leader of the opposition in the state legislative assembly Madhukarrao Pichad and former ministers Dr Padamsinh Patil and Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil were present at the meeting.

The details of the meeting were not yet available. However, party sources said that the meeting was held to review the situation after the talks with the Congress virtually failed.

Pawar, after gathering details of yesterday's meeting with the Congress, 'guided his partymen', the sources said.
