BJP leads the pack in Maharashtra with three wins

In Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party is leading the pack with wins in three seats, followed by the Congress, the Shiv Sena, the Samajwadi Party and the Natives Peoples Party with one win each to their credit. The Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar is yet to open its account.

As per the trends available, the Congress is leading in 30 seats, the Sena in 26, the BJP in 17, the NCP in 18, the Bharatiya Bahujan Sangh in 3, Independents in 2, the Peasants Workers Party in 2 and the Samajwadi Party in 1.

Minister of State for Housing Raj Purohit has won by a margin of 11,512 votes from Mumbadevi. He defeated his nearest rival Bhawarsingh of the Congress.

Bashir Patel of the Samajwadi Party won by a margin of 1,788 votes from the Umerkhedi assembly constituency over his nearest rival Abdullah Shahadat of the Congress. The SP retains the seat.

Marzban Patrawala of the Congress defeated his nearest rival Prakash Sampat of the Shiv Sena in the Colaba assembly constituency.

Former mayor Chandrakant Padwal retained the Opera House constituency for the Shiv Sena.

Patrawala defeated his nearest Sena rival Prakash Bhaud by a margin of 11,273 votes. Padwal successfully retained his seat by trouncing his nearest rival Kishan Jadhav by a margin of 4,537 votes.

Saheb Rao Deshmukh of the Congress is leading by 232 votes over his nearest rival Atul Shah of the BJP in the Khetwadi assembly constituency.

Baburao Mane of the Shiv Sena is leading by 134 votes over his nearest rival Eknath Gaikwad of the Congress in the Dharavi assembly constituency.

Former chief minister Manohar Joshi of the Sena is leading by 32,853 votes against his nearest rival Raja Dhale in Bombay (north) central constituency after the fourth round of counting.

State Exise Minister Prakash Mehata of the BJP is leading by 10,645 votes over his nearest rival Chandrika Kenia of the Congress in the Ghatkopar assembly constituency.

Maharashtra Irrigation Minister Eknath Khadse is leading over his nearest rival Gajendra Patil of the Congress by 2,711 votes after the second round in the Edlabad assembly constituency.

B S Patil of the BJP is leading over his nearest rival Anil Shinde of the NCP by 8,543 votes at the end of fourth round in the Amalner assembly constituency.

Haribhau Jawle of the BJP is leading over his nearest rival Ramesh Chowdhadry of the NCP by 916 votes at end of second round Yaval assembly (Jalgaon).

Tatya Saheb of the Shiv Sena is leading by a margin of 2,269 votes over his nearest rival Onkar Wagh in Pachora assembly constituency.

Sena candidate and former legislative assembly speaker Dattaji Nalawade who had earlier trailed in the Worli assembly constituency in Bombay is now leading over his nearest rival Vijaya Patil of the Congress.

Sunil Dutt of the Congress is leading by 34,000 votes in Bombay (north-west), while his party colleague Shivraj Patil is ahead of nearest rival by a thin margin of 1,500 votes in Latur.

Most of the trends available are from Bombay where the electronic voting machines have been deployed. The Sena is also leading in four constituencies of the Konkan region -- Chiplun, Khed, Dapoli and Mahad -- while its partner the BJP was leading in Ratnagiri and Guhaghar of the same region.
