BJP man will be CM if combine is voted in, says Yediyurappa

Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka unit president B S Yediyurappa today said his party's candidate would be the chief minister if the BJP-Janata Dal-United combine was voted to power in the coming assembly elections in the state.

Addressing a press conference, he said the legislators of both the BJP and JD-U would elect a BJP candidate as leader of the combine. At no stage had Union Commerce Minister Ramakrishna Hegde or Chief Minister J H Patel stated that they were aspiring for chief ministership, he added.

Admitting that there were irritants regarding presence of rebel candidates in the fray in 18 to 20 assembly constituencies, he said efforts were on to iron out the differences. He hoped that a clear picture would emerge by tomorrow.

Yediyurappa, who is in Bellary to campaign for party candidate Sushma Swaraj, said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance would adopt Bellary district and develop it as a model district.
