DMK govt's dismissal will be priority: Nedunchezhian

All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chairman V R Nedunchezhian today said his party would insist upon dismissal of the DMK government in Tamil Nadu if the Congress is voted to power at the Centre.

Talking to reporters in Madurai, he said the AIADMK had repeatedly put forth the demand earlier when it was in the Vajpayee government, and justified it saying the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani had promised to concede it.

He argued that if Article 356 could be invoked against the Rabri Devi government in Bihar, thereby conceding the Samata Party's demand, why could it not apply to the DMK government?

There was nothing wrong in this demand as the BJP's other allies like the Biju Janata Dal and the Trinamul Congress were pressing for dismissal of the Orissa and West Bengal governments, respectively, he pointed out.

He claimed that the AIADMK-led front is now getting more support from the minorities and would win 35 Lok Sabha seats, five more than in the last election.

On the reported remarks of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and TMC leader G K Moopanar on the non-participation of AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha at a joint rally with Sonia Gandhi at Villupuram, he denied any rift between the leaders and said they would address a joint meeting soon.
