'Tis a Seshanian blunder, says Thackeray

E-Mail this report to a friend

Shiv Sena youth leader Uddhav Thackeray Thursday said in Aurangabad that his party chief Bal Thackeray had advised former chief election commissioner T N Seshan not to enter politics when the latter had sought a ticket from him in the last Lok Sabha election.

This time, Seshan is the Congress candidate from Gandhinagar. He takes on Bharatiya Janata Party veteran and Union Home Minister L K Advani.

Uddhav, who was in Aurangabad to campaign, said that Seshan had blundered by not taking Bal Thackeray's advice to heart. The Shiv Sena had supported former Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi when he had sought help last Lok Sabha election -- but he had not remained loyal, he added.

The youth leader also criticised Sharad Pawar, saying that he had no right to talk about "Maharashtrachi asmita'' (identity of Maharashtra).

Uddhav agreed that his party hadn't done well in the last Lok Sabha. The reason was, according to him, "some oversight in party affairs."
