Ganesh Naik resigns from Sena, to contest on NCP ticket

Rebel Shiv Sena leader and sacked minister Ganesh Naik, who raised a banner of revolt against Sena chief Bal Thackeray, today finally resigned from the party and filed his nominations for the ensuing assembly elections from Belapur constituency in Thane district as a Nationalist Congress Party-sponsored candidate.

In a brief letter sent to the Sena general secretary, the rebel leader, who had floated the Baharat Vikas Paksha, finally said good bye to his party. He said he was not interested in associating with the Shiv Sena any more.

Naik will contest under the clock symbol of the NCP.

Naik, who won the last assembly elections with a record margin, told newspersons that he was confident of winning the assembly elections as he enjoys mass support including that of the Agri community, which dominates the Belapur constituency.
