India on topM J Manohar Rao and Srinivas Bhogle
The 2-1 'away' series win against West Indies has taken India (66.00) to the top of the Rediff ODI Rankings. South Africa (65.46) are a mere whisker behind and could easily catch up, as indeed could Australia (64.32).
India have gained a lot of points because they have won five series consecutively, and, by winning 2-1 in the Caribbean, they also reversed their dismal 4-1 loss during their last outing there.
England (52.30) are in the middle of a winning streak with wins twice against the West Indies and a significant victory over South Africa within the last 12 months. Pakistan (44.78) are falling behind because they just aren't getting enough ODI games to play; and when they got their opportunity they blew it by failing to defeat Australia in UAE.
Table A shows the current ODI rankings.

Details
The Rediff ODI rating, now published regularly over the last seven years, is a judicious combination of every team's weighted index (WI) and tournament index (TI).
The WI, based on the most recent ODI encounters between every pair of teams as shown in Table B, is essentially a weighted average that considers the 'opposition strength' (because wins against strong opponents must be rewarded more) and the 'home-away-neutral' factors (because teams usually win more at home, and lose more playing 'away').
The TI factors in a team's performance in tournaments and series (and thereby seeks to better reward wins in 'big' matches).
