Off-spinner Pat Symcox bowled brilliantly and every player in the team
played his part to perfection in the final to guide South Africa to

The 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy
Winners: New Zealand
Runners-up: India
This edition of the Knockout trophy was the most eagerly awaited
tournament since the 1999 World Cup and it did not disappoint. New
Zealand pipped India at the post to become worthy winners as Chris
Cairns underlined his status as a world-class all-rounder. For India,
the emergence of batsman Yuvraj Singh and fast bowler Zaheer Khan were
the high-points of a tournament where they beat Australia and South
Africa in successive matches.
