Brad Haddin and Michael Clarke [Images] hit centuries to give Australia [Images] the upperhand after day three of the second Test against New Zealand [Images] in Adelaide on Sunday.
Wicketkeeper Haddin smashed 169, his maiden Test century, and Clarke made 110 as Australia scored 535 in their first innings to take a comfortable 265-run first-innings lead.
At stumps, New Zealand reached 35 without loss in their second innings, still trailing Australia by 230 runs.
Resuming on 241 for three, Australia lost the wickets of Michael Hussey (70) and Andrew Symonds [Images] in the space of five deliveries before Clarke and Haddin stitched together a 181-run partnership for the sixth wicket to put the hosts firmly on the victory path.
Haddin enjoyed a few chances when he was dropped by Daniel Flynn on 72 while an appeal for a bat-pad catch also went his way off Daniel Vettori [Images] on 102.
New Zealand openers Redmond (15) and Jamie How (13) were unbeaten at the crease at close on day three.
Australia lead the two-Test series 1-0.
