Kukreja hits double ton, Delhi [Images] draw with Mumbai 

Opener Sahil Kukreja hit a superb unbeaten 229 but could not pull off a win for Mumbai as Delhi managed to draw their match at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium.

The visitors, who are already leading the points tally, bagged three points including two bonus by virtue of their first innings lead while Delhi added only one point against their name.

Starting with overnight 149 without loss, Mumbai innings was strengthened by Kukreja, who was unbeaten on 77 on Tuesday, and Wasim Jaffer [Images] (98). The opening pair together added 29 runs to the board.

Kukreja came out with a near chanceless show and adorned his 452-minutes long stay on the wicket with 31 boundaries through all corners of the ground.

Kukreja, who only added to Delhi bowlers' frustration, completed the double-century steering spinner Chetnya Nanda to the short fine leg on the 23rd over after the lunch break.

He struck 29 boundaries en route his 200-run mark, which came in 410 minutes and spending 266 deliveries.

Jaffer had to stop two runs away from his ton after Sumeet Narwal toppled his wickets on the sixth over of the day.

Jaffer, during his 192 minutes long innings, sent the opponent bowlers out of the ground on 14 occasions for four runs.

After the opening partnership was over, Ajinkya Rahane took the flag and produced a 157-run second wicket partnership with Kukreja, Narwal deceived him on 78 off 94 balls as substitute Gaurav Chhabra pouched him at extra cover.

With no result in sight, Vinayak Samant and Kukreja spent 112 minutes together to produce an inconsequential 118-run fifth wicket partnership, before the match was called off 18 minutes after the tea break.

For Delhi, Narwal took two wickets for 75 runs, while Parvinder Awana and Nanda managed one each.

Karnataka beat Andhra by 202 runs

K P Appanna grabbed a four-wicket haul as Karnataka crushed Andhra Pradesh by 202 runs on the fourth and final day of their Group B match in Mysore.

Chasing 320 for victory, the visitors, resuming at an overnight 28 for four, were never in the hunt and their innings folded up for just 117.

Appanna grabbed four wickets, while Vinay Kumar scalped three to share the last day's honours.

A G Pradeep top-scored for Andhra with 41.

Brief scores: Karnataka 366 and 171 beat Andhra Pradesh 218 and 117 (Pradeep 41, M Suresh 18, Appanna 4 for 24, Vinay Kumar 3 for 27) by 202 runs.

Rajasthan-Orissa match ends in a draw

The Ranji Trophy Group A match between Orissa and Rajasthan ended in a draw with the hosts earning three points owing to their slender 11-run first innings lead in Sambalpur.

Resuming at the overnight score of 109 for three, Orissa added 100 runs and set Rajasthan a target of 221 to win the match in just under five hours.

The visitors, however, were 131 for four when stumps were drawn at the VSS Stadium and had to be content with just one point.

Former India opener and Orissa skipper Shiv Sundar Das carried on from his overnight 56 but did not last long, caught by Nikhil Doru off Sumit Mathur on 61. Das faced 136 balls and hit six boundaries.

Niranjan Behera scored 54 runs with seven fours and a six and stitched a partnership of 51 runs with wicketkeeper Haladhar Das (29) in 72 balls. 

Subit Biswal also contributed 30 runs before he was bowled by Pankaj Singh (two for 44).

For the visitors, Vivek Yadav (four for 38) was the most successful bowler while Gajendra Singh picked up two wickets for 36 runs.

Chasing 221, Rajasthan started on a disastrous note losing both openers for just eight runs on the board inside seven overs.

However, Venugopal Rao and Robin Bist steadied the boat and added 51 runs. Though Rao (40 with six boundaries) missed a half-century, Bist remained not out on 60.

Baroda-Railways match drawn, Pathan fined

An unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 93 runs between Harshad Rawle (39) and Mahesh Rawat (57) helped Railways salvage a draw against Baroda.

Railways were at a precarious 147 for five at one stage but Baroda, who had taken a 236-run first innings lead, failed to press for a win at the Karnail Singh Stadium.

Baroda also had to face the ignominy of their pacer and India discard Irfan Pathen being docked 100 per cent match fee for throwing the ball dangerously at Railways captain Sanjay Bangar, an offence under Law 2.7 of BCCI domestic cricket rules.

Saurashtra draw against Punjab

Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Shah hit a strokeful hundred as his side drew against Punjab and clinched three points for taking a first innings lead at Rajkot.

The only highlight of the day was Shah's century (178) and his 161-run fifth-wicket stand with Ravindra Jadeja (56).

Both captains agreed to call off the match when Saurashtra declared their first innings at 678 for 8. Punjab had scored 482 in their first edition. Both teams resumed the final day in a hope to take first innings lead. Saurashtra needed another 78 runs to cross the opposition's total.

Punjab's hopes of securing a lead came to an end when both overnight batsman, Jadeja and Shah, showed great maturity in their knocks before getting separate.
