Mumbai take first innings lead over Delhi [Images]

Spurred by quality spin bowling from Ramesh Powar [Images] and Sairaj Bahutule, Mumbai dismissed Delhi for 295 to take a crucial 35-run first innings lead on the third day in the Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match in Delhi on Tuesday.

At close on the penultimate day's play, openers Wasim Jaffer [Images] (71) and Sahil Kukreja (77) were at the crease and had taken the visitors to 149 for no loss, an overall lead of 184 runs.

Bahutule and Powar picked three wickets each as Mumbai gained a crucial 35-run first innings lead.

Resuming at their overnight total of 176 for 4, Mithun Manhas (98) and Rajat Bhatia (81) added another 49 runs before Powar dismissed the former to bring an end to the 146-run fifth wicket stand.

Bahutule then forced Bhatia to come down the track, but the batsman failed to get his bat on ball and was stumped by the wicketkeeper. His 130-ball innings was studded with 13 boundaries.

Manhas, after doing all the hard work, missed his century by just two runs. His wicket opened the gates for the Mumbai bowlers, who ran through the Delhi batting, which eventually folded for 295.

For Mumbai, Ajit Agarkar [Images] bagged a couple of wickets, while Kulkarni and Malvi claimed one each.

However, when the Mumbai openers came on to bat they did not find any devils in the pitch and easily negotiated the 37 overs that they had to play in the evening.

Kukreja did not look too keen to run between the wickets and garnered most of his runs through the 13 boundaries that he hit.

Andhra staring at defeat against Karnataka

Chasing a victory target of 320, Andhra slumped to 28 for four, staring at defeat against Karnataka in the Group B encounter in Mysore.

Resuming at the overnight 161 for seven, the visitors were all out for 218, giving Karnataka -- who had made 366 -- a first innings lead of 148, with Sunil Joshi bagging five wickets for 41 runs.

Andhra, however, hit back strongly thereafter, dismissing Karnataka for 171 in their second innings, in which former India captain Rahul Dravid [Images] top-scored for his side with 50.

Vijay Kumar did the star turn for Andhra grabbing six wickets for 51 runs.

Trivedi leads rout against Hyderabad

Gujarat paceman Siddharth Trivedi took seven wickets to lead the rout against Hyderabad in the Group A match at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera.

Hyderabad were forced to follow-on after they were all out for 225, with Gujarat trio of Trivedi, Ashraf Makda and Mohnish Parmar responsible for the damage.

At stumps, Hyderabad were three wickets down with 45 on board in their second innings.

Trivedi claimed four wickets in the first innings and later bagged three more during Hyderabad's second.

At stumps, Gujarat were in the driving seat with a comfortable 250-run lead over Hyderabad.

Pujara, Kotak lead Saurashtra's fight back vs Punjab

Middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara's scored yet another big hundred and his 258-run association with Sitanshu Kotak helped Saurashtra score 405 for four in reply to Punjab's first innings score of 482 in Rajkot.

Resuming at 81 for one, overnight batsman Bhushan Chauhan made an early exit after adding just four runs to his score of 41. Chauhan, adjudged leg before off left-arm leg spinner Varun Khanna, made 45 off 118 balls with six fours.

Chauhan's departure brought Kotak and Pujara together and the duo notched up 258 runs for the third wicket and laid the platform for their team to take the all important first innings lead with the match heading for a draw.

Pujara (189), who had cracked an unbeaten triple century in the last Ranji match against Orissa just a week back, was confidence personified right from the beginning.

Dhiraj Singh brings Orissa the crucial lead

Left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh did a 'Magnificent Seven' on his debut as his bowling floored Rajasthan batting line-up and the visitors conceded Orissa a crucial first innings lead in the Group A match in Sambalpur.

In reply to Orissa's first innings total of 281, Rajasthan were bundled out for 270 with Dhiraj claiming seven for 83. Former India batsman Gagan Khoda scored 127 for Rajasthan.

Assured of three points on the basis of slender 11-run lead, Orissa were banking, yet again, on former India opener Shiv Sundar Das, who was batting on 57 when the stumps were drawn on the penultimate day. Giving him company was nightwatchman Pritamjeet Das (1) as Orissa recovered from an early shudder to complete the day at 109 for three.

Tamil Nadu score innings win over UP

Laxmipathy Balaji's five-wicket haul (5 for 42) after Dinesh Karthik's [Images] double century (213) made a memorable day for Tamil Nadu as they thumped Uttar Pradesh [Images] by an innings and 238 runs in Ghaziabad.

Balaji, who took four wickets in UP's first innings to end the match with figures of nine for 80, claimed three top-order batsmen before polishing the tail in the home team's second innings.

Balaji was ably supported by pace colleague C Ganapathy, who finished with four for 21 while R Ashwin took the remaining UP wicket.

Last year's runners-up UP, who made 150 in their first innings, were dismissed for 119 in 43 overs in their second essay.

Earlier, TN resumed the third day at 356 for four and captain Dinesh Karthik completed his double century and added another 54 runs to his 156 on Monday before being the seventh batsman out.

Baroda 460 for 8 against Railways

Irfan Pathan [Images] chipped in with a valuable 40 runs after his four-wicket haul in Railways' first innings to help Baroda end the third day on 460 for eight in their Group B match in New Delhi.

Baroda have now stretched the first innings lead to 236 with two wickets in hand and one day remaining. Railways had scored 224 in their first innings.

Pathan and SA Gaekwad (47) did the bulk of the scoring for Baroda on Tuesday after overnight centurions Connor Williams and AA Bilakhia added another 60 runs for the second wicket.

Resuming the day at 265 for one, Baroda second wicket fell when captain Williams, who was 107 not out overnight, was dismissed for 137 by Karan Sharma.

After that Baroda lost two quick wickets -- RK Solanki (0) and Bilakhia (157). Pathan and Gaekwad then took charge to take the Baroda innings past 450.

At the draw of stumps, Rajesh Pawar was not out on 24.
