Statistical highlights: day three

Statistical highlights on the third day of the first Test between India and England [Images] in Chennai on Saturday.

# MS Dhoni's [Images] fourth fifty against England is his 14th in Test Cricket. Having recorded a fifty in each innings of the Nagpur Test against Australia [Images], Dhoni has made three half-centuries in a row for the first time in Tests.

# If Andrew Strauss [Images], who scored 123 in the first innings, converts his 73 not out to a century on Sunday he will become the second Englishman after Graham Gooch to post a hundred in each innings of a Test match against India. Gooch had made 333 & 123 in the 1990 Lord's Test.

# Strauss' 15th Test fifty (73 not out) is his third against India.

# Strauss is the leading run-getter for England in 2008 -- 916 at an average of 50.88, including three centuries and four fifties.

# Paul Collingwood's [Images] third fifty (60 not out) against India is his 12th in Tests.

# Strauss and Collingwood's 129 unbroken stand is a record for fourth wicket for England against India in Chennai, bettering the 109 between Mike Brearley and Tony Greig in 1976-77.

# Harbhajan's 40 off 58  balls is his highest ever score in Chennai, eclipsing his 37 against West Indies [Images] in 2002-03.

# Monty Panesar's [Images] figures of 3 for 65 are his second best against India -- his best being 4 for 101 at Nottingham in July 2007.

# Gautam Gambhir [Images] has taken three catches in a Test match for the first time.

# India's first innings 241 is their second lowest score at home in 2008 -- their lowest being 76 against South Africa [Images] at Ahmedabad [Images].
