Dravid praises Dhoni, Zaheer

- Sri Lanka lost their first three wickets with only six runs on the board. This is the worst start by any side against India in India. At Nagpur, in 1990-91, Sri Lanka had lost their first three wickets for 12, which was the previous worst start against India in India.

- Zaheer Khan's figures of 5 for 42 are his personal best in one-dayers, surpassing the 4 for 19 against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2002-03.

- The above figures are also the best for India at this ground beating Irfan Pathan's 4 for 51 against England in 2005-06. In fact, only New Zealander Matthew Hart (5 for 22) against West Indies in 1994-95 have achieved better figures than Zaheer at this ground.

- The sixth wicket partnership of 89 runs between Tillakaratne Dilshan and Russel Arnold is the highest for this wicket at this ground. Interestingly, the previous record was also by another Sri Lankan pair -- Aravinda de Silva and Hashan Tillakaratne had added 63 runs against Australia in 1989-90.

- Rahul Dravid, on 22, completed his 10,000 runs in ODIs in his 309th match and 287th innings. Dravid became the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly and the sixth batsman overall to accomplish this feat.

- Dravid's 66 was his 14th fifty-plus score as captain on Indian soil -- more than any other player. He was earlier at level with Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly with 13 such scores. Interestingly, Dravid needed 33 innings as against Azharuddin's 54 and Ganguly's 36.

- The 133 run-partnership between Dravid and Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India's best for the fifth wicket against Sri Lanka on Indian soil. The previous best was a paltry 83 also between this pair at Baroda in 2005-06.

- The victory was India's only third in last 10 chases (completed matches only) -- quite contrary to their performance in last season when they won 17 games at a trot batting second.

- The victory was India's only second in five matches at this ground. They had beaten England last season.

- The man of the match award was Zaheer's fourth in ODIs. He had last won an award way back in 2002-03 in the World Cup game against New Zealand in Centurion.
