Lack of good partnerships undermined India's chances against the West Indies [Images] in the Champions Trophy Group 'A' match, said captain Rahul Dravid [Images].

"It (lack of partnerships) is an area of concern for us. Today, Yuvraj and me got out in the same over when we were going on smoothly. Overall, I think we were 25-30 runs short," Dravid said after India lost to the West Indies by three wickets.

He, however, lauded his team for making the defending champions fight for every run.

"We were determined to defend a low score and the bowlers did a great job," he said.

He singled out paceman Munaf Patel [Images] for special praise but regretted that the Baroda paceman got injured and could not be called upon in the latter stages of the West Indian chase.

India now have to beat world champions Australia to advance to the semi-finals of the high-profile event.

"That is a must-win game for us. We have identified some areas where we will try to improve," Dravid said.

His counterpart Brian Lara [Images] said that despite the close finish, his team played good cricket and deserved to win.

"Bradshaw bowled well and we were very good in the field. While batting, we had good partnerships," Lara said.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul [Images] was adjudged man of the match for his solid 51.

"It is important to get a good foundation and I have enjoyed batting with Chris Gayle," the left-hander said.

Ramnaresh Sarwan [Images], who got a crucial 53, said the ball skid on to the bat in the evening.

"Harbhajan Singh [Images] bowled very well but the damp ball made things difficult for him," the Guyanese batsman said.
