The Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad hosted its 15th ODI. This is now the second highest tally for any ground in India after Kolkata's Eden Gardens (20). Five other grounds -- Ferozshah Kotla (Delhi), Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium (Hyderabad), Sawai Mansingh stadium (Jaipur), M.Chinnaswamy stadium (Bangalore) and Wankhede stadium (Mumbai) -- have hosted 14 matches each.
- The wicket of Sanath Jayasuriya [Images] was the 50th for Shaun Pollock [Images] against Sri Lanka [Images]. He became first bowler to reach this landmark in South Africa-Sri Lanka matches. Overall also, he is only the third bowler after Pakistan pacers Wasim Akram (92) and Waqar Younis (84) to take 50 wickets against Sri Lanka.
- The dismissal of Jayasuriya also gave Pollock his 50th wicket as LBW -- becoming only the fifth bowler in ODI history to do so after Wasim Akram (92), Waqar Younis (72), Chaminda Vaas [Images] (59) and Anil Kumble [Images] (50).
- Jayasuriya on the other hand got dismissed LBW for the 39th time -- the highest tally for any batsman in ODIs. He is followed by Inzamam-ul Haq (37) and Roshan Mahanama (34).
- Chaminda Vaas's figures of 10-3-16-2 (RpO 1.60) are the most economical by any Sri Lankan bowler against South Africa in a ten-over spell. Chandika Hathurusingha had conceded 18 runs in his 10 overs (RpO 1.80) at Colombo RPS on 04-09-1993 -- the previous best performance for Sri Lanka against South Africa.
- Vaas's performance ranks among the best by any pacer against South Africa. The following table has the details:

- Jacques Kallis [Images] got out stumped for only sixth time in his career, playing his 226th innings.The last time Kallis was dismissed stumped was more than four years back -- against Kenya at Colombo RPS on 20-09-2002 (in an ICC [Images] Champions Trophy match !).
- The bowlers other than Jayasuriya to dismiss Kallis in this fashion are: Shane Warne [Images] (twice), Mark Waugh [Images], Harbhajan Singh [Images] and Steve Tikolo [Images] (once each).
- Shaun Pollock won his 16th man of the match award, which puts him at level with Jonty Rhodes [Images], Gary Kirsten and Herschelle Gibbs [Images]. Now only Jacques Kallis (24), Lance Klusener (19) and Hansie Cronje [Images] (18) have won more awards than Pollock for South Africa.
