-West Indies (80) were bundled out for their lowest total against Sri Lanka [Images]. Their previous lowest was 145 at Sharjah on 17-10-1999.

-West Indies' total of 80 is the third lowest total in ICC [Images] Champions Trophy and lowest by any major side.

-Farveez Maharoof's figures of six for 14 are the best by any bowler in ICC Champions Trophy. Maharoof obliterated Pakistan's Shahid Afridi's [Images] 5 for 11 against Kenya in 2004 edition. The following table lists the best bowling figures in the Championship:

-Maharoof's figures of 6-14 are the best for Sri Lanka against West Indies bettering Sanath Jayasuriya's [Images] 5-58 at Port-of-Spain on 06-06-1997.

-Maharoof's figures are the second best by a bowler against West Indies after India's Anil Kumble [Images], who returned the figures of 6-12 in the Hero Cup final at Calcutta on 27-11-1993. However, Maharoof now holds the best return as a paceman against West Indies obliterating Pakistan's Azhar Mahmood's 6-18 at Sharjah on 19-10-1999.

-Maharoof's figures are the third best by any Sri Lankan bowler after Chaminda Vaas' [Images] 8-19 (v Zimbabwe at Colombo SSC on 08-12-2001) and Muttiah Muralitharan's 7-30 (v India at Sharjah on 27-10-2000). Incidentally Maharoof's previous personal best performance was 4-20 against India at Ahmedabad on 06-11-2005.

-Mahela Jayawardene on 2, completed his 1,000 runs in the year 2006. He became second batsman after fellow teammate Kumar Sangakkara (1,150 runs in 31 matches) to do so this year.

- This was the second instance for Jayawardene of aggregating 1,000 runs in a calendar year. He had also aggregated 1,260 runs in 34 matches in 2001.

-The victory margin of 9 wickets equalled Sri Lanka's biggest over West Indies. Sri Lanka has also beaten West Indies by an identical margin at Sharjah on 17-10-1999.

-The defeat brought an end to West Indies' undefeated run in the Champions Trophy. It was their first defeat after seven consecutive wins in the championship.

-The victory was Sri Lanka's tenth in consecutive matches (excluding the rain-abandoned match against India at Colombo SSC on 18-08-2006). This equals their best run in ODIs. Between 29-02-2004 and 23-07-2004 Sri Lanka had also won 10 matches in a row.

-If the rain-abandoned match against India is also taken in to consideration, then Sri Lanka have not faced a defeat in last 11 matches - a new high for them. The previous best run for Sri Lanka without a defeat was of 10 matches achieved on two occasions - between July-November 1997 and between February-July 2004.

-Sri Lanka achieved the winning target in just 80 legitimate balls - fastest victory by any side over West Indies in a 50-over game. England [Images] had taken 132 balls at Headingley on 01-07-2004, which was the previous fastest victory for any side against West Indies.
