Pakistan by making 588 in the first innings of Faisalabad Test equalled a world record. This was the third consecutive time that Pakistan made a total in excess of 500.

The sequence started with the Lahore [Images] Test against England [Images] in December 2005, where Pakistan declared their first innings at 636 for the loss of 8 wickets. Pakistan did not batted second time in this match as England lost the Test by an innings margin.

Against this Indian side, Pakistan made 679 for seven declared in their only innings of Lahore Test, which was followed by 588 in Faisalabad.

Had Pakistan made 12 more runs, they would have provided the first ever instance in Test cricket history of a side compiling 600-plus total in three consecutive innings.

They, however, now share the honour with Sri Lanka [Images] of scoring 550-plus totals in three innings in a row.
