- Gautam Gambhir [Images] (97) was dismissed in the nineties for the second time in his career. He had also made 96 against South Africa at Kanpur in 2004-05.

-  Gambhir also became the first Indian to be dismissed in nineties against Zimbabwe, Dravid was the second. The previous highest score by an Indian without reaching three-figure mark was 82 not by S S Das at Bulawayo in 2001.

- Rahul Dravid [Images] (98) became a victim of nervous nineties for the eighth time in his career. With this, he equalled Australia's Steve Waugh tally. Now only one batsman -- Australia's Michael Slater -- is ahead of Dravid with nine scores in the nineties.

- It took Dravid 237 balls to compile his 98 runs at a strike rate of 41.35 (runs per 100 balls). Since Dravid made his Test debut in 1996, there have been 40 instances of an Indian batsman making 90 or more runs in an innings at a strike rate of 50 or less. Of them, 18 are against Dravid's name, followed by Sourav Ganguly's [Images] 8 and Sachin Tendulkar's [Images] 5.

- The Gambhir-Dravid dismissal in the nineties provided the eighth instance for India when two batsmen had the misfortune of missing their respective hundreds in the same innings of a Test.

- Heath Streak (6 for 73) returned best figures of his Test career beating his 6 for 87 against England [Images] at Lord's in 2000. His figures are also the best by any Zimbabwean bowler against India obliterating Henry Olonga's 5 for 70 at Harare in 1998-99.

- Tatenda Taibu, who had top-scored for Zimbabwe in both innings in the last Test at Bulawayo, had a horrible match with a duck in the first innings and one run in the second. His match aggregate of 1 run equalled his worst performance in a match in which he batted in both innings. Interestingly, the other such occasion for him was also against India at Nagpur in 2001-02.

- Irfan Pathan's [Images] two wickets in the second innings took his series tally to 18. With this he equalled his own Indian record of most wickets in a two-match series played overseas. Pathan had taken 18 wickets at an average of 11.89 against Bangladesh last year. With six more wickets to fall in Zimbabwe's second innings, Pathan has every chance to beat his own record.

- Pathan has now taken at least seven wickets in his last four consecutive overseas Tests -- 11 wickets at Dhaka, 7 wickets at Chittagong (both vs Bangladesh), 9 wickets in the first Test at Bulawayo and 9 wickets in this Test. In all Tests, only two bowlers -- England's Sid Barnes (8) and New Zealand's [Images] Richard Hadlee (5) -- had longer streak of consecutive Tests with seven or more wickets. Sri Lanka's [Images] Muttiah Muralitharan also had a sequence of four consecutive Tests in the year 2000. The previous best run for India was on the name of Kapil Dev [Images] with three consecutive performances in 1989.
