The Board of Control for Cricket in India has roped in the country's leading legal brains, Soli Sorabjee and Siddhartha Shankar Ray, in its bid to prepare a watertight defence for India skipper Sourav Ganguly [Images] before the International Cricket Council-appointed arbitrator Justice Albie Sachs.

Sorabjee and Ray were actively involved in preparing the BCCI's written submissions to the South African Judge, the sole member of the ICC's [Images] Disputes Redressal Committee, constituted after the Indian Board disputed the process adopted by Appeals Commissioner Michael Beloff while rejecting Ganguly's appeal against the six-ODI ban.

Sachs has set a July 20 date for the ICC and BCCI to present their case.

Board sources said along with the two senior barristers, BCCI lawyer U N Banerjee was also busy drafting the papers that would contain answers to some queries posed by Sachs.

Justice Sachs has asked the ICC and BCCI to present "succinct additional written submissions" concerning the provisions of the Code of Conduct and the process of imposing penalties.

The two parties then have time until July 22 to give their written replies.

Sachs has ruled out an oral hearing, saying submissions presented in black and white are enough to determine the dispute raised by the BCCI.

Ganguly was slapped with the ban,ordered by ICC match referee Chris Broad, for the Indian team's slow over-rate in a home series against Pakistan in April this year.
