Former champions Tamil Nadu took a 102-run first innings lead after dismissing Maharashtra for 175 on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Elite-B league match in Chennai on Saturday.

The hosts were 15 without loss in the second innings at stumps.

Medium pacer R Jesuraj, playing only his second match, and spinner Vidyuth were instrumental in demolishing Maharashtra. Jesuraj claimed 4/48 and Vidyuth did better with a superb analysis of 10.1-2-17-4.

A stand of 87 runs for the fourth wicket between opener Dhiraj Jadhav and Dhruv Mohan was the only significant partnership in Maharashtra's innings. These two did the bulk of scoring, making 122 runs.

Jadhav who was caught at cover by Badrinath off Ramkumar made 74 (8x4) and Mohan contributed 38 (6x4) before being bowled by Vidyuth.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu lost their remaining two wickets to be all out for 277. Ramkumar, who was bowled by Ajay Chauvan, contributed a valuable 43 (1x6 and 4x4).

For Maharashtra, Chauvan (4/36) and Iqbal Siddque (3/45) were the main wicket-takers.

Brief Scores:

Tamil Nadu 277 and 15 without loss vs Maharashtra 175 all out (Dhiraj Jadhav 74, Dhruv Mohan 38, Vidyuth 4/17 and Jesuraj 4/48).
