Jayasuriya completes 10,000 runs

Sanath Jayasuriya [Images] became the fourth batsmen in the world and the first Sri Lankan to join the elite 10,000-run club in one-day international on Tuesday.

Needing 10 runs before the triangular series final against India in Colombo, the left-handed opener pulled Irfan Pathan [Images] for four to achieve the milestone at the Premadasa Stadium.
The other three members of the club are Sachin Tendulkar [Images], Inzamam-ul Haq and Sourav Ganguly [Images].
While Tendulkar has 13,642 runs from 348 matches, Inzamam has 10,933 from 344 ODIs. Ganguly, who reached the milestone in the third match of the ongoing tri-series, has 10,011 runs to his credit from 273 one-dayers.
Jayasuriya, a former captain who started his one-day career in 1989-90, took 337 matches to join the elite list.
