Former captain Sourav Ganguly [Images] has joined the Indian team in Sri Lanka [Images] after serving a four-match ban for his team's slow over rate.

Ganguly arrived early on Monday at the team hotel in the central drylands of Sri Lanka and organised a net session during the afternoon.

Rahul Dravid [Images] will remain India's captain for the rest of the triangular series and Ganguly insisted he was happy with the arrangement.

"I am not worried about the captaincy as I have done it for five-and-a-half years and I just want to play my game," Ganguly told reporters at the hotel.

"I have been selected in the team to perform, as was the case when I was picked for the first time.

"My focus is on helping India win the trophy here."

Ganguly needs to score 33 runs to become only the third cricketer to pass 10,000 one-day international runs after team mate Sachin Tendulkar [Images] (13,642) and Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq [Images] (10,933).

Ganguly has scored 9,967 runs in 271 one-dayers with 22 hundreds and 59 half centuries.

The 33-year-old left-hander was originally banned for six one-day matches by International Cricket Council (ICC [Images]) match referee Chris Broad for his team's consistently slow over rates during a one-day series against Pakistan in April.

The ban was reduced to four games after two appeals and paved the way for his early return to the Indian team, which is also missing Tendulkar due to an elbow injury.

India lost their opening game in the triangular series to hosts Sri Lanka but then enjoyed a six-wicket victory over West Indies [Images].
