- Narsingh Deonarine (left-handed batsman and right arm off-break bowler) and Denesh Ramdin (right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper) made their debut for West Indies [Images]. A total of 127 players have now represented West Indies in one-day internationals.

- Ramdin became the 11th wicketkeeper to play for West Indies. At 20 years, 140 days, he is the youngest player to don the keeping gloves for West Indies. Carlton Baugh, who made his debut at the age of 20 years, 328 days, held the previous record.

- Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh [Images] played his 100th one-day international. He became the 22nd Indian to do so.

- The wicket of Runako Morton was the 50th for Irfan Pathan [Images] in ODIs. He became the 22nd Indian to perform this feat. By taking 31 matches, Pathan became the second fastest among Indians to complete his 50 wickets after Ajit Agarkar [Images], who needed just 23 matches to do so.

- At 20 years, 277 days, Pathan became the youngest Indian to accomplish this feat. The previous record was on the name of Ajit Agarkar, who was 20 years, 300 days, while taking his 50th wicket. Harbhajan Singh (21 years, 215 days) and Chetan Sharma (21 years, 296 days) come next.

- Dwayne Smith hit 20 runs off only seven balls with one four and two sixes. His innings is the second joint highest in the history of ODIs off exactly seven balls. The record is held by Zimbabwe's Heath Streak, who struck an unbeaten 23 against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2001-02. West Indian Wavell Hinds (vs Kenya at Colombo, SSC in 2002-03) and Brian Lara [Images] (vs Bangladesh at Rose Bowl in 2004) also scored 20 off seven balls.

- Mohammad Kaif opened the innings for the first time in his ODI career.

- Virender Sehwag [Images] (2) failed with the bat once again. A look at Sehwag's career records reveals a very interesting statistics. Sehwag's record under lights is not impressive. While he scores his runs at an average of 33.75 in the first innings of day-night matches, his average drops to 29.56 while batting under lights. He has only four fifty-plus scores in 28 while playing under lights (none in the last 15 innings). On the other hand, Sehwag has eight fifty-plus scores in 30 innings batting first (5 in the last 15 innings).

- Dhoni [Images] ended the match by hitting a six off Jeremy Lawson. He provided the sixth instance of a batsman winning a match for India with a six. Kapil Dev [Images] and Sachin Tendulkar [Images] have done so twice.

- India won a match batting second after a gap of more than a year. The last time India had made a successful chase was against Bangladesh during the Asia Cup. Since then, India had failed to win a single match in seven attempts before winning against West Indies on Sunday.

- The defeat was West Indies' tenth in consecutive matches since 01-02-2005 -- their worst performance ever. During this period West Indies have lost to South Africa five times, Pakistan four times and now India once.

- Rahul Dravid [Images] won his ninth man of the match award -- his second against West Indies. His first man of the match award against West Indies was at Toronto on 14-09-1999.
