Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly may consult Dr Anant Joshi, official physician of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, for his recurring back problem, his father said today.

Ganguly, who hurt his back when diving in vain to stop a scorching Inzamam-ul-Haq off-drive during the fifth and final Limited Overs International in Lahore, is returning home to Kolkata tomorrow.

He sat out of the first Test because of the injury and will also miss the second Test beginning in Lahore on Monday.

"Let him come back first, then we will know better what the problem is," Chandidas Ganguly said.

Ganguly had hoped to recover before the second Test, but earlier this week realised that his injury was more serious than had been presumed. "Proper treatment is required for this injury," the senior Ganguly said.

He said the BCCI was likely to refer his son to the Mumbai-based Dr Joshi. "The process is that the board has a say. It can make a recommendation and it is likely that Sourav will be asked to see Dr Joshi.

"But all the details will be known once he is here," the worried father said.
