Seeking to put an end to the controversy kicked off by the leaked letters of ICC's Anti- Corruption Unit, the Pakistan Cricket Board has said it would not take any further action on the issue.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said the decision to consider the matter as closed was based on two factors -- the letters had information that needed to be confirmed before action could be taken and the International Cricket Council did not raise the subject even once after March 2003.

"My attention has been drawn to two leaked letters from the International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption Unit to the former PCB Chairman and former PCB Director.

"The only comment I have on these letters is that the first was sent on September 29, 2002 and the second on March 22, 2003. In both the letters, there is a clear indication that the letters were based on information that needed to be confirmed before action was to be taken," Khan told reporters in Lahore.

"Since then, no further correspondence is available with us on this issue and to the best of my knowledge, the issue did not feature at the ICC meetings.

"Accordingly, since the matter has not been raised since March 2003, the PCB will not be taking any further action on this issue. There will be no further comment from PCB on this matter," he said.

The letters, written by ACU Director Lord Condon and published by the Pakistan daily 'The News', generated a lot of heat in the country as those contained allegations that the Pakistan team may have under-performed in two One-day tournaments in Morocco and Kenya in 2002.
